Our second annual “You Paved The
Way Banquet was truly a success. For one, it is always a great idea
to recognize the many people who have given of themselves many
sacrifices, not for themselves but for you and I. Regardless to
whether you know them directly or not. They have done something to
allow you to be who you are and where you are in the workforce
today. It is also a good thing to honor the seasoned workers who
made it all happen as many healthcare organizations came together to
form what we all know as the Washington Hospital Center, as well as
the seasoned workers from the old Children’s Hospital.
What many of you don’t know is
the work that some of these retiree’s continue to do on your behave.
They still have a political voice that makes your lifestyle
comfortable. Some of them still assist the union whenever called
upon and participate in union activities even when our current
members don’t. These retiree’s value the work
the union has done over the years. They can relate to
how things once was in the workforce compared to now. We should all
get to know these retiree’s so that we can better value who we are
and where we are. You will never value where you are if you never
know from where you came.
